René Backmann

René Backmann is an international affairs columnist at Le Nouvel Observateur foreign desk. A veteran journalist of 40 years, he has spent 25 years covering the Middle East and, in 1991, was awarded the Prix Mumm, France’s highest honor for journalism. His most recent book is A Wall in Palestine (Picador, 2010).
